Friends Tony Borowiec and Madison Summers, 9, celebrate finishing the Recreational 5K Adult/Youth event in honor of Madison’s mother Cindy Summers, a cancer survivor, as part of the group Cindy’s Hope Chest at Saturday’s 14th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. This year’s race, which was supposed to draw 15,000-20,000, consisted of three races, a competitive 5K Adult/Youth race at 7:15 a.m., a recreational 5K Adult/Youth race at 7:50 a.m., and a 1 mile Adult/Youth race at 8:30 a.m. All funds from the race go to research, education, screening and treatment programs.
